Family Barn

Through the forest of Martis Camp, the 18,000 square foot Family Barn radiates warmth with its rustic red exterior and shining copper roof. Symbolic of community and kinship, this iconic structure offers members a gathering place unlike any other with thoughtful interior spaces crafted to bring family and friends together.

At the heart, MC’s Original Soda Fountain welcomes you to a place where old fashioned burgers and floats are served up alongside culinary specialties like beef bourguignon and wild boar risotto. Pull up to the bar and enjoy a strawberry shake or a hot fudge sundae from a delectable menu of sweet treats and baked goods from the oven.

The Family Barn’s bowling alley offers two lanes of good old fashioned fun equipped with bowling balls and shoes for strikers, young and old. Two pool tables and a memorable collection of games, from shuffleboard to Pac-Man to pinball, are found throughout the Family Barn’s interior.

The Camp Hall, with its half-court hoops, is the center of pick-up basketball games and floor hockey. In the summer, sliding barn doors transform the space into the performance stage for the terraced outdoor amphitheater, host to Martis Camp Club’s annual Summer Concert Series which has welcomed performers including Gary Newman, Lyle Lovett, Crystal Gayle, Jose Feliciano and Asleep at the Wheel.

Tucked away at the top of an expressively painted staircase, the Art Loft is the perfect artistic sanctuary for drawing, painting and Folk School classes. With vaulted ceilings and bright light, creativity abounds. The adjacent 44-seat theater brings imagery to life on screen with weekly movie nights and special features booked just for you and your family.

Outside, the summer swimming venue provides a family pool and jetted and soaking tubs for your whole family to indulge in, surrounded by neighboring pines and firs. Or you can cast away the afternoon at the nearby fishing lake where wildlife sightings are common and catch and release could mean fish… or dragonflies.

Skiing

With exclusive direct ski access to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, Martis Camp is clearly at the forefront of mountain communities in the United States. As a Club member, enjoy breakfast and a latte at the Warming Hut before you're whisked to the top of Lookout Mountain in a mere six minutes on the Martis Camp Express – a high-speed quad lift located within the community. A select number of  Martis Camp homesites also boast ski-in/ski-out access, or as a Club member you can take the planned shuttle from your front door to the base of the mountain. Either way, the Warming Hut and Martis Camp Express lift are an idyllic place to start the ski day, gather for lunch or enjoy après ski on the sun deck.

Golfing at Martis Camp

Here at Martis camp you can enjoy the scenic views while you golf. The Tom Fazio golf experience at Martis Camp Club blends scrupulous design with the dramatic topography of the High Sierras and the magnificent scenery of the Martis Valley. Stroll through the pines and firs lining the course and you can almost feel the course beckoning your next great shot. 

With fairways of emerald green grass, strategic Ponderosa pines and sculpted bunkers, the expansiveness and sheer beauty will take your breath away. Challenges abound, too.  The front nine makes the most of the natural elevation changes and spectacular mountain views, while the back nine feels more intimate with holes crisscrossing Martis Creek and the valley floor. The finishing holes are framed by mountain vistas, with the 18th green concluding to great dramatic effect in the shadow of a rock promontory, future home of the majestic Camp Lodge.

For all its grandeur, the Fazio course at Martis Camp is as playable as it is scenic. With each hole brilliantly adapted to the topography, players intuitively understand where each shot should be placed. Championship tees challenge the most accomplished golfer, while middle and forward tees cater to the casual player and junior tees invite the youngest of players.
